Who is this program for?

This coaching program is for any artist who wants to take their creative work more seriously.

This program is for you if:

  • You want to (finally!) dedicate more time to your creative work.

  • You want to overcome your negative beliefs around what it means to be an artist, who gets to make art, and what living a creative life means.

  • You want to make a body of work that feels connected to you.

  • You want feedback on that work and process.

  • You want to connect deeply with other artists.

  • You want a process that strengthens your practice, helps you finish work, and overcome the roadblocks that stand in your way.

Through small group conversation and individual coaching, you’ll identify your creative roadblocks, gain greater insights into your motivations, and learn a powerful process for getting out of ruts and getting real creative momentum.

How Does It work?

Through video lessons, readings, and discussion you’ll learn key concepts around developing a creative process that works for you. Over 12-weeks we’ll move through the five stages of the creative process : CLEAR-PLAY-FUEL-GENERATE-REFLECT. Each week you will have a specific assignment as it relates to the stage we’re in (i.e. Clear= getting ready, Play = experimenting etc.).

This accountability and focus helps participants set intentions and move past creative blocks.

WHAT’s THE FORMAT?

The program combines a weekly 1-hour group call with individual coaching sessions to give participants a balance of group conversation and individual attention.

Group Coaching

Each week participants will meet on a 1-hour group coaching call. In this session we’ll review the HW assignment, talk through key concepts, and address your creative challenges from the past week.

During our 1-hour coaching call we’ll emphasize small group discussion so you can get to know your peers. You’ll connect with a small group to share ideas and challenges within your practice.

Individual Coaching

In addition to our group calls, you’ll have (2) 30-minute individual coaching session with Christine. This call can be scheduled at your convenience, at any time during the month. On this call you can discuss your roadblocks around key concepts, get feedback on your work, or set a vision for your practice.

Here’s a schedule of what we’ll cover:

Over 12-weeks here’s what we’ll discuss in our work sessions:

Week 1-2: Identifying Your Blocks

We’ll get clear on your creative blocks and what’s preventing you from making your work. Who do you believe gets to be an artist? What does being an artist mean? Where do those beliefs come from? We’ll use readings and reflection exercises to consider these questions.

Week 2-4: Building Habits

We’ll talk about creating the conditions to work and clearing a pathway for new ideas. We’ll focus on habits vs. outcomes and help you build a routine. You’ll create mini work-sessions to cultivate your creative habit.

Week 5-6: Developing a Play Strategy

We’ll identify the way you like to play - how making things comes naturally to you. We’ll leverage that inclination to get you curious vs. critical and begin to trust yourself. We’ll create helpful constraints so you can connect creative-time to play-time.

Week 7-8: Identifying Meaningful Fuel

What actually inspires you? Maybe it’s not something in the visual arts, but science fiction, philosophy, gardening or horror? We’ll look at what you’re curious about, WHY, and create some research tools that motivate you to dig into ideas that will nourish you.

Week 9-10: Generating Ideas

We’ll teach you how to generate ideas in your work. We’ll create art assignments that help you get out of your own way. You will make a bunch of work and be kept accountable.

Week 11-12: Reflecting on Your Work.

We’ll reflect via writing and conversation on what you’ve made and what is most interesting to you. We’ll focus on separating your self-worth from the results to help you manage your inner critic. We’ll help you understand how to integrate feedback and where to go next in your practice.

WHat makes this program different from other creative coaching experiences?

Hear from our past students:

“The coaching program is truly transformational. Part of what sets it apart is that it’s based on a brilliant framework that works not just to inspire but to sustain the creative process. As a musician, I wasn’t sure if this course would be for me, but I was blown away by how applicable the material is for makers of all kinds! This program will challenge you to expand your process and you’ll come out of it with fresh perspective and new work to show for it. Plus, the cohort model means you’ll walk away with a network of other supportive, creative individuals in a variety of fields. “

“If you are an artist, at all familiar with the art of self-sabotage, Christine's Coaching Program will undoubtedly serve you well. Christine cultivates a space that nourishes your artistic impulses and provides a structured avenue through which to identify and dismantle your creative blockages, build a sustainable practice, and ultimately reclaim the joy that art-making brings you.  She manages to create a sense of accountability without being harsh or disciplinarian, and her humor and dedication make the entire process feel natural and grounded.  Christine's insights and guidance, alongside the camaraderie you will share with your cohort, are invaluable gifts for anyone who yearns to honor the capacity they have within them to play and to create.”

“Christine brings her strong foundation in teaching, experience as an artist, humor, and progressive views on art education to every session. She creates a joyful, safe space for creative work and conversations. This program helped me to own my creativity, trust myself, create positive new habits, and begin my art practice. I can’t recommend Christine enough!!”

I attended Christine's 12-week coaching workshop and am now doing private coaching with her. Her help is invaluable. She is practical: she's helped me think more clearly about what I'm doing and about what I need to do next and is helping me build a website and portfolio. She is also brilliant. She has an exceptional ability to see to the heart of one's work. She has helped me see themes in my work I hadn't articulated. I highly recommend her if you feel stuck in your art-making or need guidance. She will give you the courage and confidence you need to go forward!

”Christine's Creative Momentum program created a mini-community of trust where I felt I could talk through my most destructive creative blocks. Not only was it incredibly useful to learn Christine's tips and practices for getting out of a rut, but I learned a lot from the other artists in the class as well, which encouraged me to push through and just make stuff.”

- Liz D.

“Christine has laser sharp vision and leads with her strong intuition. She immediately honed in on the behavioral nuances in my work, highlighting areas of joy and tedium, and encouraged me to seek out the former. I found her always attuned to who I am as an individual and artist, only wanting the best for my work and my career. She is honest but never harsh, kind but never fake, deeply knowledgeable but never pretentious. Working together has strengthened my practice and made me a better teacher.

“After years of spinning around an artistic practice, sometimes fruitful and sometimes not, I finally feel like I have a process. The tools and guidance that Christine offers, grounded in curiosity rather than criticism, are tools for a lifetime of practice. I wholeheartedly recommend this program.”

“I feel so grateful to have had the opportunity to take Christine's Creative Momentum program! The program was what art school should be: full of self-exploration, play, and reflection that helped me build tools to cultivate a positive creative process for myself. Christine's teachings and "homework" were a perfect balance of compassionate and focused. They helped me build a deeper sense of trust for my artistic process, and I feel more excited to create and more confident in my direction than ever before!”
