Should I keep going?
My brain is in tax season. It sucks. But I still have something juicy to share with you.
This month on the podcast I talked with Beth Pickens.
If you haven't heard of Beth, she's a Los Angeles-based consultant for artists and arts organizations. She's the author of two books, Your Art Will Save Your Life, which she wrote in the wake of the 2016 elections, and a new book called Make Your Art No Matter What: Moving Beyond Creative Hurdles which came out this month.
In this episode we talk about a range of things that impact artists:
Getting started.
The inner critic.
Working in isolation.
The problems with academia.
How to build an arts community when you don't have one.
Day jobs.
Toxic social media.
And that question we've all asked ourselves before: Should I keep going?
Listen to my conversation with Beth if you need a pep talk. But also, go check out her book! It's the type of book you keep on your shelf and return back to anytime you're feeling crappy.
