The importance of creative rest

It's July and I'm skipping town for a little rest and re-fuel. I imagine you're doing the same. Here are some resources on creative rest to help get you started:

1. What is creative rest? from the AMP blog.

2. Jenny Odell's book Saving Time and the concept of vertical time: "true leisure is something that exists on a ‘vertical’ axis of time, one whose totality cuts through or negates the entire dimension of workaday time, running at right angles to work."

3. Life Kit's How to Work Through a Creative Rut. They talk about the value of just staring at a wall for 10 minutes and turning your brain off. It sounds dumb but it works.

Enjoy some rest this summer.
